I understand all that, but point is that they don’t necessarily sell you profile or data points to a third party, they use all of that for their own targeted advertising

Iirc Google doesn’t sell data in the traditional sense, they package profiles for advertisers and their own ad network, but they don’t outright sell individual data. I could be wrong though.

Sanka, ya dead?

Best find a different ATM.

Nah, I think they’re saying that their corporate offerings and jobs in a given country would not contribute to GDP, while failing to address that developers and engineers would still be necessary to implement these open source applications, though Google won’t get to siphon money out of those economies. It’s purposely convoluted, basically Google throwing a temper tantrum.

Kinda surprised they hadn’t been doing this already.

Makes sense for the overdrive push on the Christianity angle. It’s just obnoxious to someone who’s going pretty damn secular.

Yeah right. Almost half the people I talk to are not happy but are burning their heads in the sand and waiting/hoping for this to blow over. It can’t happen here and all that.

Ime the shroom powder is what can kick your ass the most

While the tech may be amoral, its still implemented and utilized by pricks whose goal is control.

I mean I hate to say it, but at this point what are our options? Because our elected representatives refuse to do their jobs and these corps keep doing shady shit without consequences. I don’t mean to victim blame or anything, but with the current state of affairs, the onus is on the user to protect themselves.

If you connect you TV directly to the internet, that’s on you at this point.

Likely moreso that they’re facing pressure from other competitors in the industry that see Steam and open source in general as a threat to their business model. The HDMI forum is made up of industry leaders, and naturally Microsoft and Sony are there.
We need utilities run at cost by a nonprofit entity, whether that’s the state or some other managing group. Profits should absolutely not be extracted on necessities like energy.

Wow, that was something.
I’m fed up being told how I’m supposed to live according to their interpretation of a collection of 2000 year old stories. Like if you choose to live your life according to that book, live your best life. But I’ll be damned if I’ll let it be forced on me.

This AI bubble needs to explode yesterday, Wall Street be damned.

You really think dipshit knows how any of this works? I’ll bet one of his movie biz chums was complaining about other studios taking advantage of shooting on location and “dodging taxes,” sending Donnie into a frenzy.
Yeah but if Verizon were to, say, collect usage data so they could figure out where to charge more to unthrottle specific apps, this type of data could be quite useful.
I’m sure there is, but Google’s core business is advertising. It would almost be counterintuitive for them to sell that data when they make more money utilizing it in their own systems.
