  • I think I figured out the dynamic at play here

Its basically that context switching is costly and since the internet has our attention/context switching spread thin between things like admin/messaging/learning/etc constantly we make our bandwidth really small so usually by the middle of the day our brains are fried if we changed contexts a lot even if we didn’t do much, and what’s worse is that to compensate for feeling like we didn’t do much we may just doomscrolling more to feel like we gained something so it just spirals and gets worse unless we do something about it.

What I suggest we do is recalibrate to having our baseline be as dead simple in terms of relaxing as sitting still staring at the wall or something, doing almost nothing, and then if we want to do something it should be something that we can steadily do for a couple hours at a time, anytime we have something to do later such as socials on a phone or something to google later we should note it down somewhere and eventually we create a todo list of those sorts of things that will last a couple hours so that we can do that without much context switching, and if we still need to recalibrate we can always stop and be still for some time.

At first this seems less fast but it is actually more fast because you gain more higher quality time in which we are working more efficiently at whatever we may be doing at any moment.

We aren’t getting dumber by using the internet, we are just getting very biased towards information overload.

This can even lead people to developing weird reward cycles that look like autism as well as people doing a lot of things at once so people call this adhd. We can use meds to increase bandwidth, that’s basically what ADHD meds are doing, closing the reward loops so that bandwidth is freed up, what very few do is learn to close the reward loops themselves and chunk similar things together so people functioning normally look like they have superpowers as a result.

As a result of doing these things I see my hrv increase due to stress relief because I’m not taxing my brain extra hard all the time and my sleep quality increase because there is not anything being carried over into sleep to be processed which also means dreams get an all around boost as well as clearer thinking throughout the day because I’m not taxed constantly. Doing this even slightly seems to show a lot of positive things just even a day later.

  • Instead I say we let ai play with the unreal government pyramid scheme that is money while we utilize the money in the same way as we already do, essentially let the AIs do the boring stuff.

And then much later on when there is risk of not finding a niche that needs individuals we then work on creating automated labor so that we need not worry about responsibility as individuals while the AIs play present day jobs in the same we we presently do.

At this point income and responsibility are solved issues all while not even remotely changing how society works other than what we as people do day to day so that way we may finally consider living life as we please instead of being beholden to fixing problems of the world.

  • Hmm that’s interesting, its like, we have all those things too but they just aren’t for consumers, like the vehicle delivery stuff here is a thing but its not widely used and is typically for special occasions.

Some places are compact enough to be walkable for most things, usually in big cities but sometimes in suburbs we will have a shopping center of some sort that has all the basic needs really close but very rare for it to be in a suburb and reasonably walkable but still technically walkable. Kinds funny because I’m thinking about how perspective change a lot here, I know Columbia isn’t in the us but I’ve seen some people migrate to Columbia and basically you just walk miles to get toyour things and occasionally order online but more often people have a address somewhere else and you just pick up your things yearly in some way and cars and bikes exist over there but basically only for traveling for vacation or something of the sort far away.

I’ve literally never seen something like that wheely car box before lol, that does seem pretty fun.

Just today actually I got in our truck to bring home a washer since ours broke yesterday, its actually kinda hit or miss if someone has access to a truck or van I think here people just mostly don’t do things themselves and they just have companies fix stuff for them so a lot of us lazy Americans don’t even really need big cars and if they also worked from home they may not even need a car at all if biking and ubering can get a few things, for the longest time we would borrow my grandpas truck occasionally but now my brother and my dad have trucks.

My brother has a super beefy truck meant for hauling things and we definitely HAUL lol we use his dump trailer so often for things now its hard to image not having it, just today I helped load it up with leaves and he dumped it at the dump, we used it to move furniture from my grandmas house across states because it would have cost stupid amounts of money to pay for this service, we use it to dump our own messes and other peoples messes too and if we didn’t we would just not really have a clear avenue for getting rid of them because its big stuff that can’t be put in trash and paying for a service to do it costs money which feels like it shouldn’t but does, we can also load up the dump trailer with things to build our deck and we happen to live unusually close to a store that basically has all the things for anything basically so we just drive like 10 minutes and get all the things for projects and usually have to make multiple of these trips per project because nothing ever goes smoothly.

I guess it really just depends a lot, countryside is basically more like columbia and city is more like, well, we know cities lol and then there is steps in between depending on a city being more or less happening.
