the only one I’ve used is my MakerBot Rep2 and honestly it holds up for being over a decade old

I would also highly recommend Destructive Extrude for Blender, a plugin that enables the push-pull modeling that made SketchUp an entry level CAD learner’s dream (before Google sold it to Trimble who promptly ate it and shat it back out)

I had the perfect phone. Sony XZ2 Compact. released in 2018 so not even that old
5" screen. No headphone jack, but I was honestly just glad to have a screen that small. Ran LineageOS like a dream.
Then came the 3G tower shutdown. Now, the XZ2c is capable of 4G LTE calling. Lineage even had the settings option for it unlocked (as opposed to stock). So I call up my carrier and ask them to please enable 4G LTE calling for my phone so that it’ll receive calls again.
Turns out, the major carriers in the US decided not to support 4G LTE calling for the XZ2c. There’s a line of code sitting somewhere that could be flipped to “true” and my perfect phone would work again. But no, fuck me for wanting to resist CONSOOM NOO FONE EVERY SIX MONTH.
Fuck capitalism I’ll never forget what they took from me

bonus:

accidentally turning your kids into Web 1.0 enjoyers lol

In the U.S., according to Census Bureau data, an estimated 163,401 households were using dial-up alone to get online in 2023, representing just over 0.13% of all homes with internet subscriptions nationwide.
(AP News)
As far as US households, looks like not many. Most likely very remote locations. I had also read that some businesses maintain a dial up connection as a backup for broadband outages

finally the robots’ true purpose revealed. we created them so we could say more slurs lmao

yes, but I think it warrants further study. some GI issues are related to one or just a few bacterial strains being unbalanced, so it could be extremely useful in treating gut microbiome imbalances to know which strains are negatively impacted by specific sweeteners
conversely if we found any specific sweetener to have a bacteriostatic or bactericidal effect on a strain that is pathological when overly populated (e.g. H. pylori), that could be a super easy way for some people to prevent chronic flare-ups

It’s probably a lot more manageable as a liquid. I had powdered pure stevia and it would get EVERYWHERE and contaminate random things with horrible levels of sweetness. I think I’ll get a liquid next time I need it (e.g. for rounding out allulose to make up for its 70% sweetness compared to sucrose)

erythritol was always a not so favored ingredient for me due to the weird cooling mouthfeel and GI effects
now if it turns out that allulose is bad for you, I’m going to be SO UPSET.

it’s also often blended with dextrose which is SUPER annoying if you’re trying to do specialized baking or diets

here’s a pretty good meta-analysis I found of various studies of stevia affecting bacteria in vitro and in vivo
the conclusion this paper comes to seems to be “depends on the species and strain of bacteria”

Never actually seen any besides the cream cheese at Trader Joe’s. Going to keep an eye out now

Certain cheese (mainly hard cheese) is theoretically zero lactose due to fermentation using it up, but I find that even most hard cheeses give me a reaction.
I have a history of psychosomatic reactions to food, though. For example I couldn’t eat beef, chicken, or pork for years after several food poisoning incidents in quick succession. Even though I knew the reaction was all in my head, the physical effects still happened. Super frustrating.
However I have had 2 incidents where I had GI symptoms occur after eating something containing dairy where I didn’t know until I looked at the ingredients list, so I know it’s not 100% in my head.
To my fellow LI sufferers I encourage you to experiment with hard cheeses, as there’s plenty of people who have documented their success with those! :)
(Just do it on a day where you have a bathroom always available, lol.)

this is why at the end of the day I hope we invent Star Trek replicators
and allergy cures

😬 now that’s a rough time. Perfect Day does disclaim milk allergenic on their website but I have no idea if they require their clients to include that on their consumer product packaging.
I used to do Python coding lessons and practice on a 10" ThinkPad tablet on the subway.
It was slow as fuck but so is my brain when trying to learn code :'D
