Ok bud

I assume you meant to send this to the egg guy? Their point was that it’s closed source so you can’t trust it, so why would you trust it?
Speaking only for myself I just put the tv on an old router with my media server. Media server has a second connection to the internet. Tv thinks it’s connected to something but just doesn’t have internet access. That’s good enough for me. If they are jumping through that many hoops to learn I rewatch old tv shows from the 2000s I sure hope they get value from that knowledge.

Oh that’s fun, maybe they will try innovation again

You don’t have to analyze options but you cut yourself off from many options by default. These days it’s hard to find options without “smort” features so there may be a time soon when it’s impossible to get some types of goods. I don’t think we’re there with everything yet, but its the direction society is moving.

“fast” follower? Are we talking about the same apple who just released 2006’s windows Vista aero theme as a new design in 2025?

No but seriously, what are you talking about?

You may have a different tv market but I don’t think it’s even possible to buy a dumb tv from a store anymore. I was able to get one pre-covid, I haven’t been able to find one since then.

Easier from an analysis perspective, but seems a much harder way to live your life overall.

This is bullshit. Nobody who feels this way thinks of or ever thought of the New York post as anything other than an F-tier British-style newspaper.
This whole situation is completely unserious.

And those companies’ policies cascade out because of the incestuous nature of company boards. Some dumbass who is C__ at one company and member of the board at another says you gotta do the same to be compliant and since it’s all theater they comply rather than push back. Corporations are dumb.

This is the world in which we live. Firefox and google are the only folks who can fix it. Whether it’s killing tabs more aggressively or something else, they have the power in their hands. They just don’t want to (documented, in writing).

Being fair isn’t in my quarterly OKRs

If there’s anything corporate IT is good at it’s bullshit and security theater. Can they stop corporate espionage? Of course not. Can they make it really annoying for employees to access data they need for their job: ✅. But at least they’re “compliant” with some rules that aren’t even particularly well-documented.

Guys this is good news, maybe google and mozilla will figure it out and stop making their applications the biggest ram hogs in human history, taking more ram to render a few documents than it takes to render a AAA game. Or at least stop benchmarking a browser with 1 page open and saying look, 1 page only takes a gig of ram and most users, at least in our imagination, only have 1 page open.
Jk

I can absolutely get behind hating oracle. Not only was oracle always evil, they also prop java which is terrible. And now the family has gotten into MAGA propaganda. It’s an awful family and company and product.
IE hasn’t been a thing for like a decade though. The war is over. You won. You’re safe now.
I disagree with your description of edge though. It’s more like the evil version of inspector gadget. Like if he was corrupted by the oracle corporation and every gadget was turned nefarious. This kinda breaks down because chrome is also evil but whatever I still think it works.
Ok bud. Enjoy your bottomless vitriol.
