Just to point this out:
20-30% higher risk
Which does not mean, you now have a 20-30% risk of getting cancer. If you have a baseline risk of 10% without hormonal contraception, you have a risk of 12-13% with hormonal contraception. (Baseline where I am is 12% but I’m too lazy to calculate that right now).
Not trying to dismiss this but the numbers sound huge and scary on their own.
I still think it’s wild that we’re perfectly ok putting teenage girls on hormonal therapy for decades without further questions but puberty blockers are absolutely no fly zone, and testosterone therapy and for that matter menopause-related hormone replacement therapy are controversial.
Because people have paternalistic attitudes to childrens’ bodies and don’t think they should have autonomy over themselves :/
