“… the universe has already passed its point of maximum acceleration and has entered a phase of decelerated expansion at the present epoch.”
oh no :( i want another 500 ca-trillion years, not just a couple billion.

Agreed, this is all only a problem if for some strange reason you’re not willing to look at usb-c charger and cable specs that you buy, I have a brick and charger that do 100w, I only buy cables that take 100w ,all my devices require less then 100, and it works every time. Gosh, so hard. Never mind that if you take that very small step, it does work every time, the usb C connector is very robust and reversible, and now I have truly universal charging.
I like the no charger supplied rule. I can pick my own cool charger.

Very cool! I’m thinking of going for ubuntu touch, seeing as Android has proven that it’s no longer worth the time investment. Also, Fairphone 5 is my next phone if the current one dies, so it works out.
Could you share what do you really like about it? And what is your biggest gripe or letdown with it? Thanks!

the old fashioned way.
A whole swath of trained toads using a special made tube network?

Thanks for this :-)

Thanks but no thanks!

Same, I still use it at around 15% of my own peak usage, if this gets beyond the testing phase, i’m out as well. Never trusted discords ownership and bussinessmodel, and observing their behaviour the last 4-5 years really cemented that as accurate. Bye, I won’t miss y’all.

I have recently been using it more to connect with others on a new subject, but now for the first time ever on the internet since early 00’s, we are all owners of it ourselves. All the great new stuff was always owned by others and frankly I’m sick of it.
I never even liked twitter. Then I followed #nature and #bloomscrolling on mastodon for a while and my home feed was a feast of beautiful pics. So now there’s one use for me for microblogging. Neat! Mastodon does what it says it does and even offers ‘default’ instances. I’d love for some GO’s to help reach that donation goal quicker, so we can all get with the program and ditch corpo social media. -Why doesn’t my library host it’s own peertube?? #MakeLibrariesGreatAgain

It’s because this guy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prabhakar_Raghavan thinks that keeping people engaged on google search longer is what it is all about. Not finding what you search for, no, engagement with your search tool.
"He was the head of search for Yahoo from 2005 through 2012 — a tumultuous period that cemented its terminal decline, and effectively saw the company bow out of the search market altogether. His responsibilities? Research and development for Yahoo’s search and ads products.
When Raghavan joined the company, Yahoo held a 30.4 percent market share — not far from Google’s 36.9%, and miles ahead of the 15.7% of MSN Search. By May 2012, Yahoo was down to just 13.4 percent and had shrunk for the previous nine consecutive months, and was being beaten even by the newly-released Bing. That same year, Yahoo had the largest layoffs in its corporate history, shedding nearly 2,000 employees — or 14% of its overall workforce. " - https://www.wheresyoured.at/the-men-who-killed-google/
But how does that diminish the irony? The story is still ironic as a whole, even though he achieved his goals.
