It’s totally fine that you both like it and I’m not saying it’s a bad phone at all. It’s certainly very beautiful, probably feels nice in the hand and is overall a competent iPhone with just less camera. But most people are looking at the price, compare it to the other models and see that it just doesn’t make sense. It’s a pure luxury product that is still cheaper than a Pro so who exactly is the audience?

Worse camera and battery than the regular iPhone 17 but higher price. I can’t put my finger on why it doesn’t sell…

Just what it needs

The ones who care about anything else but style and prestige have „snapped out“ of it a long time ago. Even people covering Apple news who have previously been very biased are now becoming more and more critical about Apple as a company and especially Tim Cook.
The question is, where to go instead? Google sucks ass much more. You can only choose between two if you want anything useable for a non-nerd.
People also keep using Instagram and Whatsapp but no one believes Meta is a great company. And these are even either completely useless (Instagram) or at least easily replaceable (Whatsapp to Signal).

I can’t imagine any other use for this thing. You should be able to see from the side if the stand is cracked. But taking it apart and putting back together seems pretty straightforward as well, no special tools required it seems.

This abomination looks like a clamp of some kind. I assume the monitor stand broke and this thing keeps it together? It looks custom made.

I hated the previous Aluminum unibody designs and I hate the new one as well.

I’m sorry to have to disappoint you. It keeps getting heavier (and larger).

They tried for a few years and it obviously didn’t sell very well. People want large screens.
Personally, as much as I like the idea of it and missing my iPhone 5, I couldn’t bring myself to buy a Mini.

Why? We already have devices with Siri. I also don’t want it to listen to conversations and interrupt me with useless information.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s cute and cool tech (there was a video about it months ago) but I just don’t see the benefit.

Not really?

You can reduce animations and transparency, enhance contrast (though not every application supports it) and turn everything grayscale but you can’t change the overall style and layout of the OS.

I don’t understand why anyone with a brain would need this feature.

But why would they? They can’t put anything meaningful on a tiny device like this that is powered by HDMI. TV+ is available on Smart TVs. What kind of niche audience would this have?
Does anyone actually use alternative app stores? I installed Altstore back when this started in Europe and there is simply nothing interesting and nothing new was added since. On top of that I don’t really trust anything that’s in this store. I understand it’s good to have this option but it feels very theoretical.
