By that logic Tuvalu’s internet must be amazing.

In Ireland I have 5Gb fibre to the home in the small rural town I live in.
And its only about €40 a month.
Using Google hardware results in financial gain for Google
So buy 2nd hand then.
If you don’t care about hardware security then don’t use Graphene OS, it’s not made for you. Its made for people who do care.
As for Google harvesting data, Graphene has all of that stripped out by default. It doesnt even have Google Play Services, you need to install it seperately if you want to use it.
Finally, Motorola produces a panoply of devices for LEA, if you think a for profit company will not leverage their deal with GOS to sell a bypass device to law enforcement agencies and have the monopoly on that market you are out of your goddamn mind.
You realise that Motorola Solutions (that make stuff for law enforcement agencies) and Motorola Mobility (that make phones) are two completely seperate companies?
Motorola Mobility is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lenovo.
They have nothing to do with eachother beyond just the brand. Motorola Mobility dont even own the rights to the name or logo. They have to license the brand from Motorola Solutions.
It only works on Pixel phones because they are the only phones on the market that meet the security requirments.
Thats why for the future Motorola phones, Motorola will have to design a new phone that will meet those requirements. They can’t just put Graphene OS on an existing Motorola model.

Sounds like somebody at Europol just had a blast playing Detroit Become Human.

When they say “apocalypse-proof”, what they actually mean is that the pedestrians outside are protected from the localised internal apocalypse occurring within the vehicle.
I’m not sure about all Garmin watches, but most of them don’t have wifi. So in those cases their only way of getting data to Garmin servers is via syncing with the app.
You can also just use your Garmin watch on its own without any app. You can plug your Garmin watch into your PC and export your data into a self hosted fitness tracker like endurain for example.
considering Curve failed my ID check and refuse to reply to my emails trying to sort it out.
I had this exact problem with Curve on graphene back in September. Curve didn’t even ask for an ID and the app just kept saying my ID (the one it didn’t ask for) couldn’t be verified.
But a few weeks ago I tried Curve again, in exploit compatibility mode, and this time it worked. And NFC payments are working for me.
Might be worth trying it again after some time has passed?

Or maybe people are mislead by (and putting to much trust in) the term “end-to-end encryption”
Sure its encrypted in transit between you and the person you’re exchanging messages with.
But that doesnt mean the Whatsapp app itself isnt scanning your chats on the phone.

Right now, using GrapheneOS and being outside of corporate attestation chains just means that you can’t use the NFC payment system.
FYI, I’m able to use NFC payments on Graphene OS using Curve Pay.

Isn’t that the whole point to Graphene OS?
I like my super secure OS being developed by super paranoid developers thank you very much.

It doesnt protect you from terrorism if the government are the terrorists.
To add to this, make sure to get the one from Izzyondroid rather than F-Droid because the F-Droid one has a few features stripped out

AirVPN allow port forwarding.
I use Mullvad for my day to day devices like my phone and laptop, and AirVPN in my homelab for things like torrenting.

On Graphene OS there us a duress pin you can set which will wipe the phone immediately if it’s entered. Although I haven’t been able to get it to work in a way that i could open different profiles automatically by entering a different pin/fingerprint.
BUT.
My old Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 phone could do it. The phone had a “secure space” which was a separate environment with its own apps. I could assign different unlock fingerprints to it. So one finger would open the default environment and the other finger would open the “secure space”, and it worked seamlessly without any delays in unlocking.
I wouldn’t choose Xiaomi for privacy obviously but it’s just an example that shows it’s possible.
If I did that I still wouldnt be as butthurt as you.
