That’s a no go from here…

US have never been the land of the free. It’s been a land of the rich is free to do what they want, including killing the people, poisoning the air, soil and water… Everyone else, is free to be exploited…

Annoying experience you’ve had there.
I have never had any problem. I have my own domain names, I host them privately and on a webhotel. And then I use Thunderbird - and it just works.

Great for Firefox (which I use), and for all forks…

Signal is far better to use than WhatsApp or any other messaging app controlled by big tech like Apple, Google, Microsoft, Google (Alphabet), Facebook and so forth. But Google knows what you write on your phone on Android. Don’t kid yourself on that point.

Find a local mail-hotel, buy your own domain, and set it up…
My e-mail, on my own domain names, my server with a homepage, a bulletin board, and cloud… on the cloud (NextCloud) I also host a note taking server…
I don’t do streaming (yet) in any way bigger than I can stream video and audiobooks and music from my cloud if need be, but not with any special app for that.
I’m not a pioneer - but I selfhost.
Well, you can open another tab, by opening a link in another tab. ;-) But otherwise you are right. I use it too…
Not using VPN - tried it, didn’t gain anything from it…
Don’t install anything that needs to invade your privacy so massively.
Did you live under the impression, that Reddit where there, to not profit from their user base? Or to make sure the users has rights?
Firefox is fine in private mode. The other apps are just made for that single purpose. I don’t use reddit that much. Firefox is fine for me.
I selfhost NextCloud, and I haven’t had any problems at all… and it’s between windows, android and linux…

Feel free to believe that. 🙃 Far be it for me, to educate you…

As I said - but there could be a connection. Did you use cash or a card? Some places you have a membership, or they ask if you want the receipt on your mail…

That’s essentially what I wrote…?!?
Sure it is. It’s the US that’s not ready for what it will cost…
