I’d strongly advise against doing this every day. I developed osteoarthritis in my 20s just from my feet being slightly misaligned. Walking wonky can very easily permanently wreck your joints.

I disagree with the ‘nothing to hide’-argument, but can you please explain why it’s a logical fallacy?

But are they not already able to have a file linked to your physical ID? What difference does digitising ID make in that regard?

That’s a very good and respectful way of solving the issue, thank you for sharing!

How does facial recognition work without recording the faces it’s supposed to recognise?

Not a false dilemma at all. I’m not comfortable with being recorded onto some rando’s hard drive either. It’s still recording and tracking me against my consent.

I have this, and I cannot stress enough how much this use case is not worth being recorded and tracked in public against my consent

That is indeed the origin! https://www.etymonline.com/word/martial

I’m not American, but yeah I’m staying vigilant

Who knew my sensory issues having ass was relatively safe all along between my noise cancelling over ears, sunglasses and COVID masks

Our definition: either high enough or steep enough to have no vegetation at the top. For some people, only the former definition counts. But from experience, the definition must be different in Germany. Maybe someone from there can chime in to share their definition!

A LOT of the ones I’ve seen Germans refer to as that are hills to me, so maybe it’s normal for some. The way we use it, Berg has to go over the tree line, or at the very least be steep enough at the top to not have vegetation there.

As an Austrian, this comment saying that ‘Berg’ translates to both hill and mountain explains a lot about what I’ve seen Germans refer to as Berg. To me it only means mountain.

I’m noticing a pattern on Lemmy for every time someone makes a general criticism of the EU, the West ™, Europe etc there’s someone in the comments specifically mentioning how Germany is good, actually, regardless of whether Germany was explicitly mentioned or whether it’s actually true that Germany is better than other places in the topic at hand. In all likelihood it’s just that there’s more Germans on Lemmy than people from smaller countries, but it’s starting to feel like some weird out of place patriotism is on the rise or something.

That sucks! Mine started hurting at 27 (this year). My knees started hurting it around 16. I dont think I should want to die due to this.

This misconception is why I and many others prefer the precise wording: gaining healthy(ish) years.
You don’t die of ‘old age’. You die of disease(s), which become more and more likely as you accrue damage throughout your life. You can’t really extend the period someone stays alive with end stage dementia or cancer. If anything, you can only prevent, halt, or slow the development of the diseases. And that’s what’s meant by longevity/extending life.
Granted, you’ll still accumulate non fatal issues. But I’d argue you can lead a meaningful life with knee pain and far sightedness.

Makes sense that if your political views include that whether you deserve to stay alive is tied to how much value you create for shareholders, you spend less time nurturing your creativity.

I’ve had 2 or more messenging apps for about a decade now because of this.
Idk how general it is, but for my uni acc 2fa you can simply get a USB stick with tokens on it. Friend does the same for their e-id to avoid linking it to their phone number.
