Thanks for the info. I hadn’t considered this as an option but it does seem pretty viable at this point.

Do you run into issues with 2 factor verification? I’ve noticed many services forcing people to use it and only allowing phone numbers

What about it you need to call a business like a bank, restaurant, etc?

Good to know. When I think of French people, smoking is one of the first elements that comes to mind.

Yeah same, it’s easily the worst issue I have when in China. Technically people aren’t supposed to smoke indoors but many people don’t enforce the rules which is annoying. I’ve not noticed a smell in any rooms I stayed in but in the lobbies, halls, and especially bathrooms, you can often smell it. And outdoors every 5th person seems to be smoking
The only other issue I really have had is on long train rides people will be watching videos loudly on their phones, which is also against the rules. Train staff will sometimes tell them to turn it down but not as frequently as it should be.

Have fun, China is pretty great aside from all the cigarette smokers, but you might be used to that as a European

USian here, can’t speak to euro credit cards but US credit cards work fine. You 100% need alipay and/or WeChat, I would have both. You just put your credit card info on there and it works fine. Alipay also has some kind of travel card option I think but never needed it. I would get an Esim and then you don’t need a VPN, I used trip.com esim. I have mullvad VPN and it works fine in China.
Get a spot in Shanghai near Metro to make travel easier. Shanghai gets relatively cold in winter and very hot in summer.
The Chinese gov doesn’t care about you unless you are literally a spy or doing illegal things so I wasn’t really worried about privacy as I am when I am in the US.

It could be each government’s regulation as well, perhaps they are blocking RT at the national level

Did you try a different VPN? Many websites block VPNs from viewing their website, this is more likely the issue.
Edit: I have mullvad, RT works if you connect via Albania, I tried a few others and it didn’t work but there are probably other countries which work too

It would have to be a serious emergency for me to fly in a small aircraft like this

Or get a second free password manager just for the stuff you need but aren’t worried about and temp change them, put them on second one, take just that one and change back after returning
DSA has a lot of zionists and has even been boycotted by over a dozen Palestinian organizations including PYM for their zionism. it doesn’t mean everyone in DSA is zionist but there are definitely zionists and liberal zionists in DSA and they have been allowed to be in the org and push their zionist bs
edit: https://www.puntorojomag.org/2021/12/12/under-siege-why-socialists-must-fight-for-palestine-and-bds/
here’s a link talking about DSA issues with zionism a little bit and some examples of how DSA as a whole has touted liberal zionist lines I don’t know anything about the website I found it on but the article seems fine
