My fairphone was 5 years old when I got it so if I use it for 5 more, getting it new could make sense if I then use it for 10 years. So I might look at getting a new fair phone when this is no longer usable.

But then even a new fairphone is like half the price or less of the most expensive smartphones, it’s just far more than any phone I have bought before it.

Phones last longer than ever, may well keep mine going for a decade after it’s production date before getting another one.

Where are you finding users who read the manual? Wish we had more of those…

I was just thinking that yeah again all it needs is some basic components. Like how a light bulb or fan might have multiple power settings but I don’t expect them to be able to run doom.

Doesn’t that just need a voltage regulator? It’s disposable so you don’t never need to concern yourself with charging.

Depends on what the app does. If required I don’t want it, if it’s optional features I would never even touch then ehh whatever.

I use AI to search a topic I somewhat understand but not 100%. It gives answers that look convincing but there are multiple details that I know to be wrong. So what else is wrong? Search is just as bad with mostly AI generated websites filling the results. Is the internet already dead?

But I can’t compete with AI. It takes me much longer to delete mission critical data through stupidity than it does for AI.

Wouldn’t maintenance be a lot easier if they just placed it near the sea and pumped the water through from there? Or used a heat exchanger. All water going in is sent back out at a higher temperature.

I have a better backup system in place for my factorio saves. Script syncs the live copy to several places on the network along with compressing a timestamped copy to an external HDD which stores a bunch of copies. Then manually I might trim them down every few years or so as I don’t really need 3 different copies from March 2024 still.
