I hate SMS and vastly prefer a real chat platform, in the US it’s messenger/insta and in EU and much of Asia it’s Whatsapp, line in Japan, kkaotalk in Korea, WeChat/weixin for China, and so on. Gonna be real with you, if you’re in the US and wanna connect with pretty ladies you pretty much have to have insta or messenger. If they are devout apple heads they might wanna do iMessage but as I don’t use apple products I can’t speak to that. I personally don’t want anyone to have my phone number. I have signal, messenger, whatsapp, Kik, WeChat, and discord because I travel a lot and I have contacts on all of them. People prefer social media so they can remember you, your interests, things you say publicly, and use that to help decide if they wanna hang.

At the moment there’s no other way that makes sense for the companies looking at these regions. The reality is that the infrastructure to deliver digital goods is that it costs the same no matter where you’re delivering those goods to. So if people in that region have such a weak currency, they’re paying you one 100 th of what say France is paying for something then offering the service to them maybe an unprofitable venture overall. That said, I’m not a businessman because I fucking hate this kind of shit, but the guy’s comment really made me stop and observe my own bias.
