There are certainly options, but they are older or just not fully fleshed out for sim racing, Hardware has gotten pretty well supported now. And games like Le Mans Ultimate had their on proton fork to get it working. But If you want big races you are very limited software wise, you kinda only really have iRacing or LMU. And They both devs have been unsupportive of linux, although LMU does still currently work.
In terms of sims that do work, Automobilista 2, Raceroom, Assetto Corsa, AC Rally, AC Evo, AC Competizione, BeamNG.Drive, Dirt Rally 2.0 and i think Live for Speed.
There are options that are fun, but AC Evo is rough, AC Rally is great but you can tell it is Early Access. And honestly nothing on that list ticks the same boxes as iRacing or LMU for racing.
Outside of that though, I could absolutely switch away from windows. Nothing else I play or am looking forward to getting to play will have issues running
Not the original commenter, but my current ones are, EAs WRC it doesn’t work on Linux and the clubs feature is used by a couple of communities and is a great way to have current rallies.
Raceroom is not great on Linux, very crashy. But it can work at least.
I am also deep into Le Mans Ultimate, which just added EAC, and Devs have said they will not support linux. Currently it still works, but I am expecting that to end sometime soon.
For my hobby there isn’t really alternatives, iRacing doesn’t work, AC Rally is just too early and doesn’t have anything outside of leaderboards (and that doesn’t even have friend filtering). In terms of Sim racing there isn’t much that works really well on Linux and can’t exactly get the same experience in other games, like a 24hr race with driver swaps, ranked racing with multi class.

As a cyclist, this is a terrible sell. I already have tech which does all this, and probably does it better, for less.
I don’t need a HUD constantly in my face obscuring the beautiful views. I have sun glasses which fit well with a helmet and wrap around my face to keep the wind out.
I have a cycling computer, which offers GPS turn by turn, and pairs to power meters, heart rate and radar light. It is mounted on the handlebars in an easy to view place.
I have bone conducting headphones for music.
All of this is significantly less than $1000, and if something breaks, I can replace it all individually. I also don’t have to wear ridiculous looking sunglasses to listen to my bone conducting headphones.
Get the ublock origin lite and on for safari, had worked an absolute treat for stopping YouTube ads on my iPad.

I really wish sim racing worked well on Linux. The other stuff I need windows for I can work around or compromise. But the sim rig is just too damn windows dependant

EAs WRC is unsupported, this isn’t a deal breaker by itself but is a contributing factor. AC Rally isn’t in a place to challenge it for now, but should get there eventually. I could also play more dirt rally 2.0 as well
Le Mans Ultimate, the performance for me is unacceptable. Jumping from 30 to 140fps and makes me feel motion sick because of that. It is my main racing sim, and dealing with that for long endurance races is impossible. Yes I had the LMU fork of proton, it is the only way to get into races. But the LMU Devs are not exactly Linux friendly and aren’t trying to help out.
And that’s about it for games that don’t work for me. If LMU worked as well or close to on Linux as it does on windows I would switch. But it is such a huge portion of my pc use I am having to use windows for now
