The Signal server would send a backend notification to the client app via the Apple Push Notification Service. The app is then able to wake up, at which point it fetches new messages (securely) from the Signal servers. The app then generates a local notification with a preview of the received message. iOS is then logging those messages.
Hope you did enough bottom wall layers. The big tray looks like it could be a bit flimsy.
Oops. I basically duplicated your reply. You are spot on the mark.

So long Facebook, see you never, until one day I inexplicably need to use your platform to get updates from my kid’s school.
Screw any school or PTA that distributes information by Facebook. That should be outlawed.

What, don’t you still use it to unpack warez?

I think Raspberry Pi is in the class of SBC (Single Board Computers). This is a PC, apparently. Apples and oranges.

It is, but it goes straight to my Graymail folder. Probably because ,y employer is concerned for what I might read in it. Thanks!
Edit: well it seems Epic is another “woke” company. I hate this timeline.

Source? I’m interested as I work closely with Epic. They have a monopoly but whether they are being anti-competitive is the question.

At least on an iPhone, if the device has been unlocked since powering on, then forensic tools such as Cellebrite’s can extract information from the phone. The absolute safest bet is to perform a wipe. If this person is an activist then he’s an easy target and likely knew to be prepared for such an interrogation with our current fascist administration.

Perhaps, but I’m not expecting OP to be up for that. If they are, then you should offer some instructions to them.

No. The music on that iPod is almost guaranteed to be protected by DRM. If you could extract the files they would not be readable by any other device.

How has industry not completely fucking lost it with this guy? Every goddam day there is some new rule or twist. How can any company, especially in this industry, do business like this?

Thanks, drugs!

This was not willful though. The article makes that clear.

From the article, if you read it, you will see it was not willful at all:
The full complaint, posted by MacRumors to Scribd, outlines Apple’s version of events. Ramacciotti was friends with an Apple employee named Ethan Lipnik, who had an iPhone running an in-development version of the next-generation version of iOS. Allegedly at Prosser’s direction, Ramacciotti gained access to this phone while Lipnik was away from home and used FaceTime to call Prosser and show him the new software design.
“Defendants’ misconduct was brazen and egregious,” says Apple’s filing. “After Mr. Prosser learned that Mr. Ramacciotti needed money, and that his friend Ethan Lipnik worked at Apple on unreleased software designs, Defendants jointly planned to access Apple’s confidential and trade secret information through Mr. Lipnik’s Apple-owned development iPhone.”
At least the spying vector is open.
This is getting downvoted but how is this not good? Perhaps if you are adamant about not having this feature in your editor?

This is the Holodeck in Star Trek. Beam me up.
