  • From the git above, it downloads an official MS iso and debloat it to create a lighter one. It’s the same as installing a normal iso and then removing stuff like one note etc, except that those are not installed by default so no need to remove them.

Specialized software from laptop brands (asus or whatever) are useless shits. You only need the drivers and an OS.

Officially it is Meta. Facebook is owned by Meta but the Quest headset is not a Facebook product. I get it, it’s easier to say Facebook for everything owned by Zuk, like saying Google for Youtube instead of Alphabet.

But it is not precise nor true and plenty of comments here are saying “just leave Facebook” while OP did not post about Facebook nor having a social media account there.

And TBH, I think all VR headset are kinda ugly, it’s either big rectangle brick on your head or big round brick on your head.

  • Yep, I didn’t join as I am only there for the general shit talking and not participating in any constructive or useful conversations (it’s a way of life) but Camus, Snoopy, Anansi, THE meerkat and probably others are participating with you on the piefed zulip and codeberg.

The jlailu matrix is still open but inactive and left to slowly wither and die, every sidebars are now linked to the zulip server instead of matrix.

  • You can easily feel right at home on a Mac with console, homebrew, tiling WM etc. You can find scripts for plenty of things on GitHub.

Before I switched to framework 13, my old MacBook looked and felt like old gnome (with the two taskbars) mixed with i3.

The hardware is good, specially those M* chips, one downside is that with certain languages the keyboard shortcuts are not the same, specially for coding, characters like {[|}] are sometimes annoying to find compared to Linux/Windows keyboard.

  • a lot of savings

Savings for who? If nothing is changed and manufacturers (and retailers) doesn’t make any kind of commercial gesture, the only ones paying more are the American consumers.

So moving the manufacture would be a saving for every Joe and Jane in the US, not Nintendo nor the ROTW.

Not moving the manufacture might be a loss of % in their US consumer base as prices will be too high there, but is it big enough to justify the enormous costs needed to move an entire industry workflow?

I don’t think so, specially when there is so many instability in the US politic, if you move to an other country at great cost and 2 weeks later a new tariff is declared (because why not), you moved everything for no reason but still lost your investment.

My belief is that no industry nor country will adapt, they will just increase the US market prices and keep on living like before with the ROTW. The only ones to suffer will be the American citizens and I’m sorry for them, but there is an all planet to trade with.
