thanks a lot, i’ll check them out!

well, i don’t know the last state you know, but they added a floating search bar, which is pretty, but not beneficial beyond that i think. they added a default shortcut for copying the current webaddress which i sorely miss on mullvad. besides i dont think they added any major features i would’ve noticed, but it feels like a very stable experience atm, both on linux and macos.
i would like to move from zen to firefox, but as of right now i’m somewhat unhappy with the vertical tabs in firefox. i’ll keep an eye on them though and make the switch once they got some more features (like only appearing when mousing to the left edge of the window and staying entirely hidden otherwise)

i honestly don’t know. i’ve read about it here and there but never actually tried it

use bython, python with braces XD

does that mean we could build a wsl that provides the flatpak environment, so that we could get a one click install flatpak for windows?

does that issue not exist in the f-droid version? if so, i’m glad there’s a workaround when i try graphene😅

Smile, you are being protected.

once put usb-c in a usb-a port and my desktop pc performed an immediate reboot without any permanent harm…
i think this is a good summary
i also hate the idea of giving up apple pay when testing graphene. i really hope to find a somewhat ok alternative, but from what i’ve heard it seems to be the best there is atm :(
yeah honestly i really think that you should swap to linux!
i second this

i‘m hyped for a graphene desktop mode. that wouldn’t be a replacement for my laptop/ desktop computers but still very much sick. and if i can run a terminal with neovim and tmux or ssh into other machines it would be a dope backup/ micro setup. probably not very useful, but fun i think

honestly, most of the games i wanna play are totally fine and might run even better on linux. what is something to keep in mind is anti linux anti cheat: https://areweanticheatyet.com/ besides, you can check https://www.protondb.com/ to get a rough overview of what you can play. out of all the games i’m playing only one isn’t working rn, cuz the screen ratio is messed up (it’s a small rather unknown game) but really many games are fine. i use steam and heroic games launcher, and they’re great. f nvidia tho. they can be a true pain in the butt (on windows too though…)

at first i thought your suggestion was to feed the machine racist cops to find them and got all hyped ):
i‘m not writing this from the perspective of a parent, but a 23yo Gen Z who’s had parents which didn’t know what to regulate.
in some places my parents regulated „very intensely“. oftentimes they did so quite suddenly and without much communication/ explanation.
then again there were times and places where the lack of regulation allowed me to spend hours and hours each day, doom scrolling on instagram.
i spent years contemplating the situations and what would’ve been good.
your child’s mental health is the main key. in my experience the lack of self regulation is a coping mechanism. i was doing horribly and my parents solution wasn’t to help me, but to play whack a mole with symptoms by regulating. don’t get me wrong tho, it’s not just me, ive seen this a bunch of times with other ppl too. -> the better your kids mental health, the less there will be a need to regulate. if they do struggle, help them by working with them, not against them. look for solutions with them. don’t just set regulations, discuss what to do WITH THEM. let them set targets and what to do if they aren’t met with you. there will be lots of resentment and cheating around restrictions if you don’t work with them. everyone i know who’s been forced into find my or live360 has used a variety of techniques to spoof their location. not to mention that all of them at least kinda hate their parents for it.
so:
they say that strict parents raise liars, and i’ve seen that proven many times.
im wondering, does using uBlock help in any way? can they block metas pixel and thereby protect you?
