Maybe. But they may just paste it without GPT attribution, so we’ll see.

I’m getting that more and more. “I asked ChatGPT and it said”. Dude, we work for the same company and I could have typed that in, and maybe I did. I wanted your experience with it, that’s why I asked you.
Make sure they know they just lost input right ms the next time. No, I don’t ask Harry, he just quoted GPT last time, and I’d already asked it this time so there was no reason to involve him. Nothing worse for a lead than people not wanting them to lead because they’ve abdicated the job to spicy autocorrect.

As a ln adult it pisses me off that I heard about her as a kid because of the whole “computer bug” thing, but only learned about the whole “invented the first compiler” as an adult. The minimization of women (Karen Sparck Jones, Katherine Goble, Margaret Hamilton… hell, even Ada Lovelace!) is a stain on the profession.

For those unaware, she was a driving force in technology. The one most people know her for was the creation of the term “computer bug”, but she helped create COBOL and helped develop the earliest compilers. She was smart as hell and one of the major innovators. You don’t know about her in part because she was military (this was only released a year ago) and because she was a woman.

That’s fantastic, thanks for sharing!

There’s a story about how they were teaching a model to detect tanks and thought it was awesome… and then they found out it had learned that particular types of trees correlated to the type of tank in the training data, so the AI just looked at the trees and responded on that.

Okay, is that actually wonderful news? If it’s doing nothing for the GDP, and the GDP went up, something is still causing that, right? So does that mean the economy is in less of a bubble than we’d thought, that we’re actually growing despite AI?

That it doesn’t handle DNS requests is DUM. It’s a VPN-lite, but just for your browser, okay, that could be useful. But without DNS it’s giving a false sense of security.

I’m glad he was so dumb as to show us. He could’ve been behind the scenes, throwing money at things but without anybody knowing. Thankfully, we now know what kind of person he is, and by extension which people are fine with it.

Note that OpenAI has been sponsoring scientific/math research and looking for things like this, exactly for this kind of “see! We’re not boiling the ocean for nothing! Give us more money” payoff.

I just loved that someone actually put their name and gmail address on this horrid copyright infringement (on kaggle) and appears to have gotten away with it. That’s hysterical.

It’s a site frequently used for data analytic contests - better Bayesian algorithms to weed out spam, detect malware, etc. I guess at some point it pivoted to AI. Yup: “AI & ML”

It’s the cirrrrrrrrrrrrcle of scaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam

They’re not going to maintain it - they’ll just throw it back to the LLM and say “enhance”.

Yup. It’s in my GD library. Why doesn’t that matter?!

Yeah, but can it recognize any band names yet? Siri’s recognition for non-top-10 band names in foreign languages or made up words is abysmal.

Wasn’t that the dot-com bubble, too, though? “Get bought by Google” was the plan for so many companies, they had no plans for profitability.

Off topic - on Voyager on iOS, and the thumbnail is upside-down? Anybody else?
