They have broad latitude to initiate searches, but if there isn’t a specific crime they’re going after you for, you’re not destroying evidence. If they’re just fishing to see what you have in there, then there isn’t evidence being destroyed because they have no way to know whether you erased stuff because you were doing crimes or just didn’t want them to see your nudes.
Making a comment about a supposed scientific error from post title alone is even stupider.
Agreed, this is a dumb comment that has no relation to the study being done, only some study they imagined in their mind.
People love to second guess scientific studies like they’re set up by complete fucking morons with no review or oversight. Truly their 10 seconds of amateur brilliance is going to see the trivial flaw no one among the team of people doing this as their actual job noticed. If something sounds obviously wrong in a science article, the source of that wrongness is almost certainly either the author of the article or you.
This is embarrassing mysticism for a journal from a school of science. We may as well be taking about souls and spirits and the aether. In the same way that LLM hype (lately in service of scammy marketing) has generated irrational spiritual believers in coming machine god it has also caused opponents to lose their minds and make absolute statements about how nature must have some ephemeral essence that sets it apart from the artificial.
Experience is in unexpected places, including in all animals, large and small, and perhaps even in brute matter itself. But consciousness is not in digital computers running software, even when they speak in tongues. Ever-more powerful machines will trade in fake consciousness, which will, perhaps, fool most. But precisely because of the looming confrontation between natural, evolved and artificial, engineered intelligence, it is absolutely essential to assert the central role of feeling to a lived life.

I’m also not of the opinion that the people voting for it made a heinous choice either. They were just willing to take questions about MTG’s antisemitism in exchange for a minor messaging vote. Nothing anyone did here is important. AOC has put out statements much more critical of Israel than being vote 7 on a muddled messaging bill.
MTG’s problematic aspect isn’t her being a Republican. It’s not even that she’s a particularly bad person (she is). The perceived motivation for this messaging bill is antisemitism. This is Jewish space lasers lady.

It could also just be that it’s MTG’s bill and she’s introducing it because she’s explicitly antisemitic. It’s like if a well-known white supremacist introduced articles of impeachment for Clarence Thomas because they can’t stand having a black man on the court. Maybe if this is the one shot that can get it done you bite the bullet and do it because the result is worthwhile even if you’re going to get asked why you teamed up with the white supremacist, but for a doomed bill that’s only going to be a statement of principles, the benefit is limited and the person who introduced it is part of the statement.

Name a single protest taken over by an outside group. It’s not something that happens. Maybe some of the white supremacy groups whose presence alone requires people to reject them or be tainted by association, but nothing on the left. That’s not an actual problem on the left, much less one “on the left forever”.
My first protest was organized against the Iraq War, but in practice also contained more broadly anti-Bush protesters as well as groups promoting third parties, communism, and veganism. None of those were a problem or threatened to take over the protest in any way.
So something that doesn’t actually happen in the real world. No one gets to decide the one singular issue that defines a protest. There isn’t one.

In one breath you’re saying protests have to be wide and in the next you’re complaining about groups with a specific interest joining.
