I have managed to get all my friendship group on signal and we use it daily. While it does have its flaws (mainly being centralised and US based), I try in life to not let perfect be the enemy of good. Until there’s a stable and easy to use alternative I can point my friends to, I imagine we’ll stay on Signal.
So they’re happy for us to read all their messages, right?
I imagine most people aren’t willing to pay a subscription for their search engine

SimpleX have message relay servers that are required for the sytem to function. It’s not “serverless P2P”.
I guess if they have a built-in weather or news widget, or something like that. The same with a keyboard if it has a gif search or something. Though, there’s no knowing that they’re not using that internet connection to send your data somewhere.
This is still peanuts to them and the cost of business for them

Right now the only way to host this is with cloudflare workers 😅 Until the go implementation is done I doubt anyone but them will run this.

GPS works without play services but if you want more accurate location then you can turn this on.
