With an ICE you get the heat for free as a byproduct. Here in Austria I’ve never noticed a significant efficiency difference, maybe up to 10% could be true for ICE cars in our winters.

Probably also a big reason why it’s less profitable - consumers are upgrading more and more slowly. In part because of the performance gains being smaller, in part because a lot of components are getting more expensive. In that way it’s a self fulfilling prophecy.

Software has also gone to shit performance wise, few things really get optimized anymore and there’s frameworks and containers behind everything.

As I see it, phone manufacturers have zero reasons to keep the battery degradation low, but many reasons to push advertised capacity and charging speed. If you were cynical, you could also assume that they’re trying to make sure the battery doesn’t last too long because they want to keep selling new phones.

Neither of them are anyone’s friend, but claiming they’re the same level of nasty is a bit of a stretch.

But apparently, using the tools already available to you is not a common skill these days :(

Besides offering different approaches for different preferences, there are clear benefits to the extra level of organization. As an additional exercise, try to picture someone using multiple windows and tab groups.

Not everyone operates on the basic level. Hell, why even have tabs? The OS can manage multiple windows, and you can use multiple desktops to achieve the same result without that bloat.

Still, if it’s small enough to transmit via any wireless connection they can easily keep the local copy.

Why not both? As Linux achieves more and more momentum, you are bound to see real change in how Microsoft treats its users.
