Song-based radios for new music discovery on a service where they don’t silently drop huge swaths of music from my curated “liked” list. Tidal, Qobuz, and Bandcamp failed to meet this requirement in different ways.

Spotify isn’t even good, but I don’t have another real option yet.

I used Tidal for a few months, then found out it had silently removed ~10% of my music from my “liked” list. Completely unacceptable. They should at least keep a list of titles so I can go back and fix it. People say all services do this, but I’ve been keeping an eye on it and Spotify hasn’t done it since I hopped back.

Qobuz was painful to use and new music discovery was hopeless. No idea if they were removing tracks too.

Bandcamp seems cool, but I prefer to listen to music via song-based-radios, so that’s a no go.

Not sure what I’ll do if I have to drop Spotify again over ads.

If someone I knew told me they asked an LLM to generate their password, I would no longer talk to that person.

One thing I think he missed, in my experience, is many of the critical dimensions may be in the user manual as a drawing. For example, the hole spacing for mounting the drives is standard so either the mount or the drive manufacturer might have called out the position and size. This would be way better than measuring, especially if they are using metric and you dimension in inches.

I went to Wendy’s the other day, and they have this automatic pre-recorded English-fluent woman cheerfully ask for your order. While an actual person didn’t indicate that they were ready, I know they won’t do a second intro message either way, so I started to order. A heavy spanish accent comes over the speaker “Fucking wait, god.” My only thought was “Fair enough” and I waited.

Whoever implements these systems is crazy. We don’t pay people enough to be policed that heavily.

As a customer, I would feel much more comfortable talking to someone who doesn’t sound like they have a gun to their head.

For me I just want a fast forward button. They have something they call fast forward, but it seeks instead.

I was a backer of the first version of the Pebble, and by the time mine came in they had released a newer, better, cheaper version which made mine feel a lot less cool. Doubt I would buy one again no matter what they did.

I used to work with a guy who worked at Valve prototyping stuff like the steam controller. He was a boomer so he complained about how people were always playing games in the break room and what not. Said he hated that job, his reasons might as well have been a wishlist for my future career. If he wasn’t so damn helpful I would probably hate him to this day.

I think we all know that if an engineer went to upper management and said “I can charge these batteries faster, but it degrades the battery life by 20% over a year.” they would have said “Do it! We won’t mention that last part.”

Good timing. The straw the broke the camel’s back before switching to Linux two months ago was watching my PC reboot after “update and shutdown” and saying “I shouldn’t have to deal with this!”

I installed Mint a week ago and it has played all of the 13 games I tried without any effort from me, except one which ProtonDB told me to change the compatibility mode in the steam properties then it worked great.

I would say see the ProtonDB entries for some games you like to set your expectations.

I think downloading movies you already own is legal, though I could be misremembering.

Every single time I try youtube subtitles because I didn’t understand something, they end up being useless AI subtitles and I am faced with disappointment again.

I could understand how it would be helpful for the hearing impaired watching clearly-enunciated youtube videos, though. Should still hire professionals for movies.

I’ve seen maybe 3 passable figures by them. Mind boggling that they actually sell.

When Street Fighter IV came out, I spent several months consumed with making my own custom fightstick. Weighing the options for different switches, color coordination, the pros and cons of different gate options. Probably spent at least 100 hours looking for the perfect image for the decal on top alone. When I finally had it all together I was over the moon.

Then, almost immediately, I realized that I didn’t actually like playing Street Fighter that much, and completely lost interest in the hobby. Checked that one off the list, I guess.

Your project is cool, btw.

To be honest I regret spending so much time earning money and buying so many cars. It would have been more fun riding around in a stolen piece of trash robbing liquor stores with a friend than grinding the bank heist over and over.
