Yeah if you’re going to go hard on protesting, you should probably not be using an iPhone. Literally the least secure phone in the entire universe.

The fog was not the point.

Okay here’s a situation. You’re on a road and it’s gotten foggy and the roads are a bit slick because of the fog. All of a sudden the comfortable 68° temperature you have the cabin set to is causing your windshield to fog up. On a car with buttons and knobs you can just reach over grab it twist a knob or press a button and change the setting. However, with touch screen menus you have to actually turn to look at the screen, taking your eyes off the road in unsafe weather, to find the setting to switch it to defog. That’s just one scenario there are at least a dozen others. Not to mention what would happen when it’s snowing out and you have to take your eyes off the road to search a touch screen for the right setting on anything. Radio, brights, 4 wheel drive, etc etc etc…

Tesla sales were driven by an $8,000 tax credit that doesn’t exist anymore. That company is sinking faster than the Titanic now that the tax credit has disappeared.

Touchscreens are cheaper to install than tactile buttons. That’s the draw for carmakers.

A few, like Tesla, have successfully made cars that act and feel like consumer devices—vehicles with lots of tech features, **** and a steady stream of meaningful software updates. Most are playing catch-up.
“smooth digital interfaces”
Nobody actually fucking wants this!

It doesn’t have to be a “dumb” car. Just don’t route everything through a stupid touchpad. I know it costs more to install buttons but I don’t want to have to hunt and peck through dropdown menus to turn on the radio or air conditioning. And I definitely don’t want a subscription service, that will be canceled eventually, to access remote start.

Considering the fact that AI based age verification now usually involves taking a head shot and uploading it to the servers of the company, I’m guessing there is an element of facial data collection involved as well.

I dropped them for DDG over a year ago. Never have had a cause to regret.

DDG lets you just turn off the AI crap.

The stupidest thing is that ChatGPT originally told him to pay them too. He had to get creative with the prompts in order to get actionable suggestions.

Following your example to its logical conclusion.
There is something we can do. We can hold the other grenades accountable for their explosive nature. Something that has traditionally not been done. Which has led to the situation as it stands now. The company line has always been grenades explode, that’s just their nature.
We’ve been indoctrinated into believing that if we step in and tell a man to back off from harassing a woman that we are “cock blocking” them and that is impolite. It’s not and men aren’t entitled to being allowed to talk to women just because they want to.

I really don’t understand what the value they see in putting age checks on operating systems. Like where is this coming from? Who whispered in their ear that OS age checks are something that need to be done?

To be clear, these are Apple users. Most of them will take just about any abuse Apple is willing to throw their way.

Oh he’s anti-Trump alright. But that’s just meaning that he wants to take Trump’s place.

You cannot equate ADHD and spectrum mental conditions with disease. For one they are not a disease, you cannot catch them and you cannot give them to other people. They are the way people’s brains work. People are just born that way, same way people are born gay or trans, smart or dumb, handsome or ugly. You can’t have an outbreak of ADHD or autism the same way you have an outbreak of the flu or covid.
People have been searching for environmental factors for autism, ADHD, depression, and all kinds of mental conditions for years. Other than crackpot anti-vaxxers and people like RFK Jr who try to throw life saving vaccines and common medications like Tylenol under the bus with literally no literature whatsoever to back it up, there has been no links discovered. Genetics and fetal gestation is weird and people just get born different sometimes. We as a society need to accept that and stop thinking these are diseases that need to be “fixed”.

This is actually the most apt analogy for the whole “sudden increase in diagnosis” bullshit line that anti-vaxxers and anti-science people continually vomit out.

This is basically Apple’s version of a Chromebook. It’s an iPhone in the shape of a laptop.
Not to mention that someone’s going to come out with a jailbreak option for every 3D printer within a couple of weeks of this being implemented at a manufacturing scale.
