He doesn’t profess to be a communist so I’m not sure why the linked article is expecting him to align with communism. He’s said several times, including in the above statement, that he’s a democratic socialist.

The problem is that Maduro is actually the real democratic socialist. Maduro didn’t come to power as a result of a revolution, he won elections. He doesn’t govern a one party proletarian dictatorship, he governs in a parliamentary multi-party liberal democracy. He hasn’t established a centralized command economy, he has established a system of decentralized democratic worker communes.

Zohran calling him a “dictator” only shows that it is Zohran who is deceiving his supporters about who and what he is - an imperialist aligned socdem who chose to reinforce imperialist slander about real socialist leaders.

This slander isn’t just harmless speech, it’s an active weapon in the propaganda war waged by the imperialist apparatus to manufacture consent and justify wars, invasions, bombings, regime change, and mass murderous sanctions against socialist states. These words kill.

By saying what he said he has made himself co-culpable in the crimes of imperialism against the people of Cuba and Venezuela, he has blood on his hands now.
