I’ve had to help walk back some family here because “if only I made a bunch of money instead of x” talks. Mostly by saying “yeah stinks, all you did was actually help people, should of embezzled enough money to get a foundation” or something.

Plenty of secular satans out there too. Communists, Nazis, The Jews, Blood thirsty anarchists, narcists, billionaires, schisos, etc basically any polball or Jreg character. They can be used to justify some horrendous deviation from morality and ethics. You know killing baby hilter kind of stuff. Reeducation camps are ok if they’re “terrorists” and the government is moved by the will of the people. Etc. etc.

I mean yeah. This was the very reason to dump a ton into “the metaverse” in order to maximize possible data collection

Honestly. I agree. A big issue the US has with “industrial policy” type of deals in general is this. Big businesses can afford to have specialists to get access to programs and programs can “accomplish” their budgets goals faster with these bigger deals. The COVID small business loans had the same issue.

Also supply side money funnels are popular with donors/lobbyists (for obvious reasons) but are almost always garbage. Demand side (upfront funding for some needed thing, and payments for fulfillment) are still possible for to fuck up but do WAY better.

Both competing hard on who will develop the best mass survelince and censorship systems. I hope the people working to actually better the world get more funding soon
