Ahh from and about Russia and its pets. Good people to be talking about human rights.
I do agree though but we should change this to the oligarch club world wide.

Another thought I had was, the tarrifs were a sales tax and not a supply chain supply issue deeper then that. Why is the fed trying to contain prices except when they exceed these tax increases. It some how does not make sense to me.
The other problem with inflation is fed has limited options and that usually means slowing the economy and the effect of that is not evenly distributed.

Liked his talk. One thing he did not say is chaos is bad for hiring and we do have chaos.
The other issue is tariffs. Who could have known that adding Tarrifs is going to cause inflation along with supply chain chaos which is bad for jobs. Obviously. Same for horiffic and disruptive immegration policies and wars of choice.
I can believe AI will improve productivity. That too will have effects. I know I use it quite a lot both to good effect and also in great ammusement when it totally fails in very funny ways.

I agree. The Chinese are the most interesting. Trying to integrate a more flexible market economy into their social system is a huge accomplishment and what is needed.
The reverse is needed in the US. The other big challenge in the US is quality of leadership. Democracy requires an educated and engaged electorate, access to true information, honest fact based debate, good decision making, and a willingness to make it work. All in short supply these days.

I absolutely agree. Have we ever seen that in the wild though especially at scale?
It may be in fact mutually exclusive in that it may conflict with human nature and most cultures. US is of couse extremely individualistic for example though not uniformly so.

Yes I agree that these guys are not fully socialist and what they can accomplish is limited. The more interesting point is first how the capatalists loose their shit over it on one hand and on the other I do not think socialist as an attribute is considered negative these days in general.

Then you come up with better word.
In my definition, any system where the general public cannot throw out the bums without violence is authoritarian.
The is the fundamental reason communism is not viable. It just swaps distributed power for the even bigger problem of bigger concentrated power.
Just look at happyness indexes. We know the solutions that tend yield best results. They tend to be democracies with a fairly homogenious population and a socialist bent. Capitalists hate this and I assume communists do too because it shows neither is the way.

Actually in the US socialism is more popular then you might think. Bernie Sanders was very popular a few years ago and showed significant support in the presidential race. Mamdani just won the NY mayors race.
What we do not care for in the US is authoritarianism which seems to be the result of any extreme either libertarianism or communism, and we are too damed independent for our own good. I makes me both laugh and cry when the current situation is not good for 80% of people but with minor exceptions they still vote for it.

Yes, I have wondered about the partial support too.
Might be true. However never under estimate the indecisiveness and incompetence of US leadership and take it as a plan. Russian propaganda and the MAGA crowd too have had big effects also. By in large too the west wants Russia stable. Besides Ukraine is not a core issue in the US.
Nuclear weapons are useless. No one can use them.

I have no idea how all this will end. However you might want to consider that west has put very little effort into helping Ukraine. Both Russia and the US have not lived up to their obligations. Both guaranteed the intergity of Ukraine by treaty. Russia invaded and the US and the west did not stop it though we could have at any time.

So there is no way the Taliban beat both Russia and the US in Afghanistan?
There are so many good providers in the EU. In the US basically those that implement MTA-STS are Google, Microsoft, and Comcast with all of their issues.
I actually ended up at shared hosting provider. I get 30 mailboxes for less than $100 per year. Only incoming MTA-STS though unless I went to my own VPS.

Some of it is useful but IT practices that waste my time mean I get less done, makes me work more unpaid overtime, results in lower raises because you get less done, and destroys innovation and the company in the long run because more and more things need permission. You cannot run an innovative organization that way. One reason I left the company.

The real idiotic thing is a network where one client system compromise compromises the whole company. Bad network design.

This is exactly it. Out sourced stuff that there is no way to verify. I stopped clicking on this stuff too unless I had to. Was still never sure.

Ironic thing a company I use to work for would send out both email you need to click links to do your job then do training to not click links or even open the same kind of email. Then even test that by seeding in very realistic test email. Total stupidity. Your expected to tell the difference when there is no way to do so. The training was more CYA then anything, just blame the employee for shit company processes and security.
Not anonymous or free but bitwarden send is nice. Thundermail from Mozilla will have this feature too.

Smart home type stuff is with minor exceptions a total nightmare. Bad security, bad privacy, and bad longevity. Just no. There are some of these things that just don’t work without connection back to the mother-ship, or at least lack major features. Generally it is recommended that if you do have these sorts of things, put them on a separate network at least.
Lookup alternatives at alternativeto.net. Signal is probably the best but there are others. Problem with chat, both people have to use. F-Droid is a good resource too.
I would not call FOSS a cult any more then unions or the civil rights movement.
What a low bar.
