Isn’t that what Nebula/CuriosityStream is? All my favorite YouTubers promote it, though the caveat is you have to pay but I think the money actually goes to the creators (and they put bonus content on it like a patreon).

We desperately need a third browser.
Safari?

Well Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 has weird distorted music. Apparently it’s due to .wma files and possible to convert them to MP3 (or use some weird fan patch of Proton) but that sounds like a lot of effort for something I was hoping would just work out of the box.

But I like my blue iMessages!

I hate the idea of “blocking” a user or community, to me I hear “block” and imagine a user who harasses me or posts actual spam, whereas someone who comments politics a lot might also comment non-political stuff I’d like to see, or if an event is big enough I could see cross posts in more niche communities. I wish there was a “show me less of this on the front page” option.

How much worse could it really become in terms of politics? It already feels like 60% of posts are politics, and jumps to 90% if you include the “Windows/Google/AI bad, use Linux/Librewolf/Selfhost” posts.

Sadly that’s not one of my niche interests. But thanks for the offer!

I disagree about being content with a small user base, I want more niche communities beyond News/Politics, Linux/FOSS, and memes.

It’s nice that Androids can finally send me high quality images and participate in group chats without as much jank. Still not as good as an iMessage group but a lot more bearable.

Yes I read what you wrote - most of it makes sense. I guess I never associated the interest rates going up with Ukraine, I always thought they were a response to the economy slowly getting better and worries of inflation caused by the 2020-2021 stimulus packages. Aka Biden was trying to prevent excessive inflation as the stimulus packages bore fruit (which obviously didn’t work). But I do remember the interest rates being one of the big drivers of the layoffs once the tech companies no longer had near-infinite near-interest-free capital.

Was it really Russia’s invasion, or just because the interest rates went up to prevent too much inflation after the COVID stimulus packages? Hard to imagine Russia had that much demand for software compared to the rest of the world.

What’s wrong with Google? AI answers are pretty convenient.

I thought Valve was the one who created Proton in the first place to let people play games on Linux

Honestly, I’m kind of impressed it’s able to analyze seemingly random phrases like that. It means its thinking and not just regurgitating facts. Because someday, such a phrase could exist in the future and AI wouldn’t need to wait for it to become mainstream.

This is probably the single thing that got me to switch to Firefox. Privacy whatever, I don’t care about my data or the morality of my tech company or whatever, but mess with my adblocker and goodbye.
