I mean every obscenely rich and powerful person stole a lot of work from other people…otherwiese they wouldn’t be obscenely rich. So, he’s hasn’t forgotten, he isn’t and never was aware of how much he stole.

I feel you have it the wrong way around. The “average Lemming” is pissed, because private piracy is prosecuted and punished while Meta’s is not.
I, for once, couldn’t care less whether Meta pirates the shit out of all the books if I am allowed to do the same ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s a legal thing. No (real) jurisdiction. In space nobody will shut down Grok generating kiddo porn. It’s basically the precursor for Epstein Island 2.0.

Lifting half a ton…for how long?

Here I was hoping to casually siege a castle, but alas, no battering ram to be had ☹️

At least write “is scheduled to be deleted” to make the lie not as obvious.

You can always freeze excess heat in case you need it later. Just microwave it, when needed!

Yep, preparing a proper search is my use case. Like “how is this special screw called?”. I can describe the screw and tell the model to provide me a list of how that screw could be called.
Then I can search for the terms of that list and one of the terms is the correct one. It’s way better than hoping that somebody described the screw in the same words in some obscure forum.
But, is it worth to burn the planet, make RAM, GPUs, hard drives unaffordable for everybody and probably crash the world economy for a better screw search? I doubt it.

Well, I just give them a contract for a speech of two minutes, worth 3 million, I guess. Even those politicians will see the appeal in just receiving plain ol’ money instead of jumping through all those hoops.

That’s why I always want to crowdsource corruption. Everybody who wants something gives 3 Euro/Dollar/Whatever and we just carry those cash suitcases to the morons in charge. What big companies can do, we can do!

Wait until they discover some remote controller, where you can switch the games that are played according to some schedule. Like some form of game stations. Maybe they could broadcast them for the whole population somehow, so that everybody can talk about the games they played watched last week on their next town hall gathering or Sunday church with Aunt Lizzy.

HDD for games? Enjoy your loading hours!
HDD works for media, allright.

Wait until humans find a way to divide by 0. Suddenly Cambrian explosion in science, immediate Warp civilization and whatnot.
Then they find this chip, but cannot decipher it, because they don’t understand mathematics not able to divide by 0 😅.

Do people even still exist who have the arcane knowledge to type in a domain directly?

I just love how all the articles and everything about this study go “Do you need another TV or monitor?” instead of “here’s a chart how to optimize your current setup, make it work without buying shit”. 😅
And don’t forget folks: if this drive contains your whole digital identity, make sure your next ones do have the keys. If something happens to you, it is impossible to retrieve logins, photos, whatever your kin/whomever might need from that drive.
Same goes for e.g. homeservers, VPSs or anything your family relies on: tell them where they find the relevant logins and who could possibly help them, if they’re not capable. Grieving is hard enough, if they figure they also lost all memories of the beloved one, that’s terrible.
Has anybody ever really said that “I have nothing to hide” in the wild? I only ever read that in online discussions about how to counter that argument. Proponents of surveillance I met were either “companies need to have all the data, else they don’t survive the harsh competition” when it comes to surveillance capitalism or the say “All the crimes, protect the children” when it comes to state surveillance. They seem to be aware that they lose privacy, but they believe that it is OK for what they get.
But do they also have reasonable prices? When Telekom finally put fiber at our street their offers were so stupid, that basically everybody kept cable.
For starters they limit upload for no reason. Then they capped at 1 GB and wanted like 130€ for that. At the time I had the very same on cable for only 45 € or such, so I basically told them “give me prices and speed like in Switzerland and you have a deal”. The sales guy only asked me “why do you want that much upload?”. Like, because there’s no reason for you to limit it at all, only greed.
