You are a bit out of date. I cant say what I know, but tsmc is just one player now. Semiconductor industry is about to make some jumps.

They’re just kkk hoods with deniability. Worn for the same reason, they know they’re monsters and can’t take the heat for it.

Its the culling of the herd. They feel they know best what the make up of the country should be. Its the same thing as eugenics. It makes sense if you think helping the disabled is a waste of resources.
How do you develop this point of view? How did people become convinced the h man was right? People are susceptible to propaganda. I heard the comments on popular sites about Taylor Swift being pro right after her last album was 25% astroturf. Heard from Phil Defranco on yt, there was a study.
Go look at the shit on truth social. I’ve met people that only look at the conservative part of the web, like fox news junkies of the last 25 years. They’re radicalized by astroturf, then hide in these echo chambers. Most of the discourse is directed by people with vested interest in political outcomes.
People I was friendly with were trying to say Charlie Kirk would have been a good president when he died. He was such a kind and selfless Christian, they say. I cant find anything defendable in his media output, but once you’re radicalized, its just about hitting the talking points. “Woke ideology.” “Trans mind virus.” “Communists and Socialists.” “Empathy is bad for our coutry.” Once you believe you’re surrounded by enemies, its easy to be manipulated by fear.

Ok. R5 3600, rtx 3070, and 4 spinning drives. Idles at 62W. 80W under normal load (2 concurrent streams). This is a hilariously over specced NAS. This is all 2nd or 3rd life pc parts (outside of the spinning rust), so financially speaking I’m happy with the result.
The long term goal is to use it as a homelab separate from anything I need to work all the time. I want to try running some LLMs locally and use it to control some home automation stuff. That’ll stress it.
Edit: so yeah its double yours.

At idle or under normal load? Im tempted to get the killawatt out.

Ok, im glad im not the only one that wants a responsive machine for video streaming.
I ran a pi400 with plex for a while. I dont care to save 20W while I wait for the machine to respond after every little scrub of the timeline. I want to have a better experience than Netflix. Thats the point.

Capitalism protects the capital (goods, and equipment, on a truck), and values human lives at approx $3 million (based on financial cost for the company when a life is lost).
The value of the truck and the contents of the trailer are frequently greater than the value of the driver for a given trip, and therefore justify more caution and care than any given patient in a doctor’s office.

He needs to take a long walk, on a short pier.

You know shit is off the rails when the unibomber is starting to sound reasonable.

I’ve personally got a lot on my plate. In trying to survive. There was a time I was more active, but its a young man’s/woman’s game.

I thought the nazi propaganda on the internet was annoying 20 years ago when I occasionally bumped into it. Now I’ll have to carefully curate the internet to not have to hear it constantly. Jfc.

Bend the knee, kiss the ring, lick the boot.

You boys from around here?

AI ruins everything.

Tor for one, it rides on top of the internet.

This was my first thought, we aren’t going to develop the whole world. That’s not how this works. Who said that was a goal of… well … anyone’s?
That’s a rhetorical question. Frfr tho, does that remind me work on your instance only, or what’s the deal with that?

I’d consider this moderately restrained on the capslock for a true patriot like we have here.

I think where we may differ in opinion is where the power lies in this situation. To me, it’s all about having the money for the compute, which means its propaganda for the wealthy. That’s nothing new. I do not expect a significant increase in societal support for these types of messages. At least not on a historical scale.
You seem to imply the LLM can at the very least have an emergent agenda, or seeming agenda, of its own. I do not believe that to be the case. LLMs that generate output that doesn’t align with the monied interests will be considered misaligned and discarded.

You’re missing my point. An LLM can’t be “smarter” or “smart” at all. It isn’t sentient or conscious. It doesn’t even have a stable internal model of the world. What people call “hallucinations” are simply the random words selected at the edges of its convincing predictive power. Personification of LLMs is all marketing. They’re really just well presented statistical models.
You design semiconductors for a living? Or just read articles?
