Manually make a backup with the date in the file name stored in another folder and on a thumb drive.

All my systems backup to a remote box that has a hotswap bay that I rotate the drive every few weeks between another drive. The drive out of the hotswap bay is stored in a fire safe.

This is more all for images and documents, but everything gets the same backup since it’s whole systems. The backups are rsync with hard links so they take up less room.

If I setup my own private instance and don’t make myself verify my age… can they still stop me from following others or other instances following me in some way?

It would only ever be instances specific would it not?

I hosted for years and got tired of fighting with the big players servers… then I realized 95% of every email and sent or received was going to or from a person’s Gmail account and gave up.

I don’t use Google assistant to control any other devices but the amount of stuff I ask 'hey Google’s to do over the last few years has gotten worse than when it first started. More often now I just play music to it via Bluetooth connection.
