1. Regarding Google Maps, you might wanna try “Here WeGo” which is by a company in the Netherlands and more privacy friendly than Google.
2. If your primary goal is security and privacy, GrapheneOS is your best choice. LineageOS is good, if your device does not support GOS; I have no experience with /e/OS in terms of usage.
3. On Google Pixels it is possible through official methods to install Stock OS again, same for Fairphone. I don’t know about other devices.
4. Alternative Android Distributions like GOS, LOS and /e/OS won’t be affected, except if you install Google Play Services (and related), though GrapheneOS will likely limit it with their sandboxed method if you do so.

I spoke to one of their team members and they said: “Regarding our SPL (“Security Patch Level”), typically our builds are made mid-to-end-of-the-month to include the newest SPL updates that trickle in from upstream (sometimes our updates are delayed to make sure they are integrated before we build). You should see the newest update made just at Christmas time includes the December SPL patches which weren’t available when we made the earlier monthly builds.”

I would recommend replacing Openboard with Heliboard, since Openboard isn’t actively maintained, while Heliboard is a fork of it and in active development.

Do not use CalyxOS at the moment. It lacks importmant Android security updates. I would recommend LineageOS or IodéOS (which is slightly more secure due lockable bootloader, etc.). I feel difficult about /e/OS since they have done questionable things.

DivestOS is dead and won’t come back.

I don’t think a provider should fight any order, especially if the chance of success is low or basically zero. It’s also very expensive. A provider that doesn’t have the data in the first place, is legally speaking better.

Germany, since I’m a German citizen and know my local rights and laws better than anywhere else. Also easier to take legal action against the company if they they mess up.

It isn’t really about detection, they just got a blocklist of domains. There is not much temp mail services can do. Using lesser known or self-hosted solutions usually helps.

We might want to encourage people to stop using the term “sideloading” and instead say “installing” because that’s what it is; using a different term for it makes it seem unordinary and unintended.

And they almost NEVER provide sources. The only exceptions I can think of right now were the cases with Rob Braxman and the French newsletter. That’s the only time they actually provided a source.
